Eight-year-old Joshua Denby and his six-year-old sister, Phoebe want to conquer the second-highest mountain in the Yorkshire Dales for the hospice in Lancaster.

The siblings, from Heysham, came up with the idea after learning about compassion at their school, Poulton-le-Sands Primary in Morecambe. Mum Rachel regularly takes her children up the mountain but this time they want to go for a good cause. Rachel said: “I’m so proud. They have always wanted to help. Before Christmas Phoebe wanted to give her presents away, we gave half of the money to the hospice for toys in the family room.” They have raised £380 and hope to reach £1,000 before the hike in the second week of November.
