The team and staff were not paid on schedule at the end of October but payments were made on Wednesday shortly before kick-off at the Globe Arena.

Diego Lemos, the club’s owner, said: “I can confirm that all wages have now been paid and once again I apologise to every member of staff for the delay in payment.”

Brazilian Mr Lemos, who took over the Shrimps in September, was at last night’s Checkatrade Trophy game with Bradford, which Morecambe won 3-2.

It emerged at the weekend that Morecambe players and staff had not received their wages on time.

Players’ union the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) became involved after “cashflow” problems at the League Two club.

Meanwhile Morecambe FC announced that it has come to a mutual agreement to cancel striker Tom Barkhuizen’s contract with immediate effect.

A spokesman said: “The club has retained its rights to training compensation and any other compensations relating to this player.”
