Clandestine Cake Club - Esterhazy Cake

Lancaster Clandestine Cake Club held its first meeting at Maxwells Cafe & Delicatessen recently, with the next event scheduled for October 10.

Bakers and guests turned out, along with 10 cakes including a Hungarian Esterhazy cake, traditional carrot cake and a selection of chocolate cakes which were shared, devoured and taken home.

Each Clandestine Cake Club meeting has a theme, with upcoming Lancaster events to include Vintage Icons and Have Your Cake And Drink It – a cakemaker’s idea of a Christmas party.

Lynne Molloy, who started the group this summer, said: “It’s great funbaking, and there is the opportunity to visit eating establishments you may not have heard of, and meet new friends.”
