A search has been launched for three ‘lost’ cavers.
The RAF search and rescue and mountain rescue are involved in the incident which is taking place in the Inglewhite area.
Lancashire Police said a group of five people had come up from the south and entered a cave network in the area.
They had become separated and were not carrying mobile phones.
Three members of the group are missing.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “No one knows whether they are in the cave or out.”
Lancashire Police are liaising with colleagues in Cumbria and North Yorkshire.
