RESIDENTS in Scotforth protested again plans for two supermarkets off the A6.

Local people including elderly residents and families gathered at the roadside with banners last Saturday in protest at proposals by Booths and Commercial Estates to build new stores on green belt land at Lawson’s Bridge.

The plans are expected to go before Lancaster City Council’s planning committee on May 3.

Commercial Estates – which has yet to announce a would-be operator for its proposed 24-hour store – has also applied to build a 50-bed hotel, restaurant, pub, petrol station and 500 parking spaces.
