“All pupils have achieved well enough to enable them to move on to their post 16 destination at Sixth Form, college or to apprenticeships with some outstanding results achieved by Reece Edgar and Jasmine Corps.

“I would like to thank the local authority for allowing the pupils to complete their secondary education on the Skerton site, the staff for their enormous effort and determination, the parents for their support and above all the pupils who have worked so hard.

“The government seems intent on making it harder to achieve and as a school focused on the individual student, I am very proud of all they have achieved at every level.

“What is important is the progress made with English ahead of national averages and maths rapidly catching up.

“68 per cent achieved a C grade or higher in English and 61 per cent in maths. The overall headline figures have improved, showing a positive trend with 40 per cent achieving at least one top grade and 55 per cent more than five good grades.

“The best results show 10 A* or A grades and one in 10 achieved five or more such grades. This is an emphatic vote of confidence for our ethos, our curriculum, which is designed for students’ needs and their future progression, not simply ‘approved qualifications’ and the sterling work of the staff. Congratulations to all concerned!”
