Last year’s event saw more than 200 runners take to the rural route along the Lunesdale countryside and £300 was raised for local sight loss charity Galloway’s.

Billy Gardner, Lancaster race series director and race organiser, said: “Last year was the first ever Lancaster Castle 10k and half-marathon event and we were delighted with the turnout.

“We’ve partnered up again with Galloway’s this year to help them support more local people living with sight loss in the local area.

“Last year’s event raised £300 for the charity and we’re delighted to be supporting them again. Registration is now open and we hope to have even more runners this year.”

Galloway’s aims to create positive change for blind and partially sighted people living in a sighted world and provides a variety of services, including computer classes, guided holidays, day trips, activities, drop-in days, emotional support and equipment advice.

Galloway’s fundraiser Anna Scott said: “We are so grateful to Billy and the team at
Lancaster Race Series for supporting local blind and partially sighted people in this way.

“We hope to get plenty of runners taking part to support Galloway’s again this year because we need all the support we can get to reach out to the ever increasing number of people living with sight loss in Lancaster and the surrounding areas.”

The Lancaster Castle 10k and half-marathon will take place on September 20 and you can register for the event online www.lancaster-race-series.co.uk/lancaster-castle-10km-half-marathon/.
