Taxis will be moved to the bottom of Market Street near the library car park entrance and a new taxi bay will be in place on Tunstall Street near the Pedder Street car park.

For the duration of the works, there will be no disabled parking on Market Street. Extra disabled parking bays are available on the library car park.

Work will continue between Barclays bank and the post office for the rest of April and May, and then from the post office to Graham Street and Union Street until the end of June.

The work is to create a new pedestrian area called ‘Royalty Place’ and provide new street surfaces, seats and lighting, as well as a new taxi pick-up and collection system. After Lancaster City Council completes this work, they will start consulting with local businesses and residents on possible changes to Queen Street, Pedder Street and New Town Square.
