Residents plan to fight Millennium Bridge turbines plan

City centre residents are outraged after plans to erect wind turbines on Lancaster’s Millennium Bridge were given the thumbs up.

Lancaster City Council planners gave the controversial plans for two 125m turbines approval at a meeting on Tuesday.

Resident Debbie Smith said: “Lancaster is a beautiful historic city and this will ruin it.

“I hope to get a group together to try and put a stop to this. It’s an outrage.”

Work is expected to begin shortly with the turbines set to be fully operational by the end of the year.
