Resident led to safety in blaze drama

A householder was led to safety after a fire at a flat in Mainway, Lancaster.

Four fire engines from Lancaster, Morecambe and Bolton le Sands attended the incident early today.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, there was a fire involving a cooker.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, breaking in tools, and a ventilation unit to clear the property of the smoke.

A person was led to safety unharmed.

In another incident, two fire engines from Nelson attended a fire in a first floor flat at Hardy Court in the town.

Crews used a hose reel, two breathing apparatus, and a ventilation unit to extinguish the fire.

The cause is under investigation.

There were no injuries.

Yesterday afternoon, Chorley firefighters were called to a car on fire in Bentham Road, Coppull.

Police were called to the incident to help with traffic managment.

The cause of the blaze is thought to be accidental.
