The closure was due to be lifted today, Thursday.

Bus users had to alter their journeys because buses were unable to get down Regent Road.

A spokesman for Place First said: “A tube from a scaffold had come off in strong winds and the fire service had come down and asked for the road to be closed.

“Our overnight team agreed to the closure and the scaffolding team came out the next morning to fix the scaffolding.

“The closure should have been taken away a day earlier than it was. Our contracting team has done everything there were supposed to do.”
