Pupils shine as schools book places in county finals

Pupils from Moorside Primary School and St Peter's Church of England Primary School are celebrating after securing their places at the largest youth sporting event in Lancashire, following victory in a quick sticks hockey competition.

The schools battled it out at the University of Cumbria and will now represent Lancaster and Heysham respectively at the SPAR Lancashire School Games county finals, where they will compete against teams from 14 other Lancashire districts in a bid to be crowned county champions.

Thirteen schools took part in the event, which was organised by the Lancaster and Heysham school games organisers, was umpired by sports leaders from Heysham High School, Lancaster and Morecambe College and Lancaster Royal Grammar School, while hockey coach Nick Davey was on hand to develop the sporting skills of competitors.
