Lancashire County Council issues trick-or-treat warning ahead of Halloween

The light-hearted social media post, warns of the potential dangers of trick-or-treat buckets, calling them a "cauldron of germs".

This latest warning comes after Lancashire Resilience Forum, which co-ordinates the county's measures, ruled out community events for the remainder of 2020.

Annual celebrations, including Bonfire Night displays, Remembrance Sunday commemorations and Christmas lights switch-ons were also banned to help combat the pandemic.

Lancashire entered the highest level of Covid-19 restrictions, which restricts people mixing from different households in homes or gardens, on Saturday, October 17, 2020.

"Lancashire is currently in the 'very high' Covid alert level so it's illegal to socialise with people outside your household or support bubble, in a private home or garden.

"You could still carve pumpkins and give your doorstep a spooky makeover, or dress up and watch a scary movie at home.

"Please celebrate safely this year and say boo to the bugs this."
