Police seek drivers after pedestrian killed

Police have appealed for drivers to come forward with information following a fatal collision on a busy main road.

Officers investigating the death of an un-named pedestrian on the main A6 Preston to Lancaster road early on Tuesday want to trace at least two motorists who may have witnessed the tragic incident.

The victim, believed to be a Romanian national in his twenties, collided with a silver GMC van near to the Bellflower pub at Nateby near Garstang at around 4.10am.

He suffered severe head injuries annd was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say they would like to speak to the drivers of an HGV and a silver Peugot car who were in the area at the time and may have information which could assist the innquiry.

“We are trying to ascertain exactly how this collision has come to occur and so we need any potential witnesses to come forward,” sai Sgt Tracey Ward of the Road Policing Unit.

“In particular, we want to speak to the drivers of the HGV and the silver Peugeot vehicle as they may have seen something that could assist us with our investigation.”

Efforts are still going on to contact the dead man’s next of kin and make a formal identification.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident reference 187 of December 22.
