Police name couple found dead at home

A married couple found dead in their Morecambe home have been named by police.

Robert Holden, 44, and wife Nicola Holden, 40, were found at the semi-detached bungalow on Low Lane, Torrisholme, on Friday morning.

Post mortem examinations have revealed that Mrs Holden died of ligature strangulation and Mr Holden’s cause of death was strangulation by hanging.

It is believed Mr Holden killed his wife before taking his own life.

The couple are believed to have a 17-year-old son.

Detectives said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

Officers were called to the home, a semi-detatched bungalow, at around 11.50am where the bodies of the couple were found.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: “The investigation is still at a very early stage and detectives are working to establish the circumstances around the deaths.

“We are not looking for anybody else in connection with the incident.”

Paramedics were also called to the scene, which is opposite Mattock Crescent and close to Torrisholme Primary School.

Police were seen to visit Morecambe High School in the wake of the incident.

A school spokesman confirmed that the couple’s son attends the school.

A police car was stationed on the driveway of the couple’s home throughout Friday afternoon.
