One of Lancaster’s Post Office branches could be moved to new premises under the organisation’s new ‘local’ branding.
The proposed new location for the Vale estate branch is Londis Supermarket, 21 Noel Road, opposite the current Post Office at 16 Noel Road, and the Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six-week public consultation.
Post Office local is a new concept for delivering Post Office services and the new Vale branch will offer Post Office products and services throughout shop opening hours from two low-screened, open plan service points integrated into the retail counter instead of from a separate screened counter.
Should the move go ahead, the branch would open from 6am to 9pm Monday to Saturday and from 8am to 1pm and from 5pm to 9pm on Sunday. This would offer an extra 53 hours of Post Office service every week.
The proposed move is part of major modernisation programme across the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments.
Regional manager Suzanne Richardson said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Lancaster and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
During the public consultation, Post Office Ltd welcomes feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision is taken on this proposal.
The consultation will close on March 1. Submissions can be made during the consultation by Freepost YOUR COMMENTS to Post Office Ltd, via email to email@example.com, via the Customer Helpline on 03457 22 33 44 or Textphone 03457 22 33 55.
