‘Perfect musical comedy’

JUST why has gambler Sky Masterson taken the Salvation Army doll to Havana?

Why is Miss Adelaide furious with fiancé Nathan and what has she done with the five children?

And how many pies can Mr Johnson eat without exploding?

After last year’s outrageous outing to meet The Pirates of Penzance, Lancaster Amateur Dramatic & Operatic Society (LADOS) has opted to visit New York this year and offer its own unique version of the hit Broadway and West End musical Guys and Dolls.

Once described by critics as “the perfect musical comedy”, the LADOS production is full of sharp characters and hot dance routines.

This year’s leads include newcomers Ryan Butterworth and Lizee Weedy as Sky and Sarah alongside Paul Atkinson as Nathan and Suzanne Ward as the beleaguered Miss Adelaide.

With an excellent score including Luck be a Lady, If I Were a Bell and Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat, this promises to be a show to keep you smiling and your toes tapping!

Guys and Dolls runs at The Grand Theatre, Lancaster from May 8 to 12 at 7.30pm (additional Saturday matinee 2.30pm).

Tickets available from 01524 64695 or www.lancastergrand.co.uk.

A BUCKET collection in aid of the Ryan Stanford Appeal will be held on every night of LADOS’ performance.
