The home has been inundated with snacks and treats dropped off at the door, Cards for Kindness sent to the residents, and hand made PPE.

With no visitors allowed into the home for almost two months, people could be forgiven for thinking that Laurel Bank had become a quiet, barren place - but it's quite the opposite!

Everybody has been staying cheery and positive and laughter still rings down the hallways.

The Cards for Kindness scheme has put a lot of smiles on people’s faces, and one resident even appears to have made a permanent pen-friend, eagerly awaiting the next letter from seven-year-old Connie every week.

Many residents have been Skyping their families on a daily or weekly basis, and are amazed at the ways we can use modern technology to keep in touch.

“It’s one thing to speak on the phone, but to see your family, to smile together and laugh together, well that’s something else!” said resident Joan Gilfillan, 87.
