The pebbles, each different and unique were lined up along a wall near the Battery in Heysham in memory of Jacky Burns.

The purple procession signified what Jacky meant to people and how thankful they were to have painted pebbles at her suggestion.

One beautiful silver pebble, decorated with purple, said: 'Thank you for introducing me to Pebbleart. It kept all the kids happy on my street.'

Another said '20 a day' which signified not a cigarette habit but how many pebbles Jacky liked to hide in a day, said one of the organisers Becky Webster.

Other's simply had the letter 'J' for Jacky to remember her by.

People gathered around the stones and looked at them all, reading messages on some, like 'Bringing smiles to people's faces, doing small kindnesses, thank you Jacky for Pebbleart'; 'We will miss you Jacky', and 'RIP J B' with a pair of golden wings.

As the hearse drove past taking Jacky to her final resting place, people clapped for Jacky in a sign of support.

Like Jacky had done in life, bring people together by painting pebbles, so it was after her death that people painted pebbles and came together to remember her.

The purple pebbles will be given to Jacky's family and will at some point become part of a permanent memorial for her in Morecambe.

Jacky's daughter Sarah Burns said: "Originally Pebbleart was something for mum to enjoy with her grandchildren, Leo, Calvin and Olivia, but as always with my Mum she had a vision, that other people might find these little painted pebbles and paint their own!

"This is where the Facebook page was born and the rest is history. This small act of spreading a little happiness with a painted rock will be her legacy for years to come."
