Police issue 'secure homes' warning after spate of sneak-in burglaries across Lancaster during hot weather
Police have warned people to ensure their homes are secure after a spate of sneak-in burglaries in Lancaster.
Over the last month, houses in Binyon Road, Chatsworth Road, Greaves Drive, Bridge Road, Graham Street, Scotforth Road, Ash Grove and Sulby Drive have been targeted.
Recent reports have shown that offenders are targeting properties where doors and windows have been left unlocked or unsecured.
In each case, entry was gained without the need to force access, allowing offenders to enter homes quickly, easily and undetected even while the residents are in their homes.

A police spokesperson said: “We appreciate that while we are experiencing the current warm weather, it may make it more comfortable to leave windows and doors open during the evening and overnight hours.
"However, we are urging all residents to take extra precautions and remain particularly vigilant at this time.
“Where possible, please keep windows and doors closed, especially during the night.
"If they must be left open for ventilation, ensure they are properly secured and cannot be used to gain access to your property.
“We therefore strongly urge all residents to check that doors and windows are locked and secure before retiring for the night.
“Your vigilance is vital in helping to prevent further offences and keep our communities safe. Thank you for your cooperation and support.”
