Steve Wilson, Lifeboat Operations Manager, said: “I’m delighted Martyn has taken on this role bringing together the two sides of Morecambe RNLI, both the operational and the fundraising side. He does this whilst retaining his responsibilities as both a launch authority and shore crew.

“I value the maritime and management experience he brings to every role he volunteers for in the RNLI. We are one crew and Martyn wholeheartedly lives that.”

Pete Rooney, RNLI Area Lifesaving Manager, added: “This is a crucial role in bringing all elements of the station together as one crew with a shared goal of saving lives at sea.

"We are a unique organisation in being a charity run by volunteers and supported by volunteers. I wish Martyn every success in bringing all the volunteers together and working hard to steer the group in the right direction.”
