Lancaster City Council pays tribute to member of staff who always had a smile on his face

Tribute has been paid to a Lancaster City Council worker who has tragically passed away.

Joe Boulton, who had worked for the council for 28 years, latterly in Lancaster city centre as a street cleaner, passed away on Wednesday November 25 following a fall at his home two days previously.

Mark Davies, Director for Communities and the Environment, said: “Joe was a member of the Lancaster City Council family and his death has devastated his many colleagues and friends.

“He always was happy in his work, always eager to help and always pleased to have a chat.

“We will always remember his smiling face and the difference he made to our district.”

A book of condolence has been opened at the council’s White Lund Depot and the council is also looking to create a permanent memorial for Joe.
