Luminate Morecambe is a collective production of unique light art projects inspired and created with the community around Lancashire and particularly Morecambe.

Directed by light artist Callum Henry, a student from Lancaster, they are looking for nominations of local heroes who will light up a special display in Heysham this Christmas.

"We are looking for Covid heroes and superstars for a unique light installation over the Christmas period in Morecambe," Callum said.

"Individuals can nominate anyone who has been a shining star throughout the past year."

It is hoped this will form part of one of several large set pieces in the display, and Callum said he hopes it will bring cheer after a dark year in the country and for the district.

"Working with local organisations, I try to create unique light art under the Luminate brand that highlights messages, from local history to the need to think greener in our climate emergency, ranging from unique displays on beaches to illuminations throughout humble villages," he said.

"In 2020, we learnt that heroes are around us in all walks of life. We are rewarding heroes with an illuminated face in lights in our new project.

"I work on community projects and come from an NHS family so wanted a way to pay thanks to all the heroes that we have witnessed this year."

The light display will make up one big light-up square, pulsating in neon rainbow colours with a projected centre that will showcase the area's Covid heroes.

Callum said: "Anyone who has been a hero, from lorry drivers to nurses and general folk, can be sent in, firstly with a description of why they have been nominated and then we will get back for a photo."
