Stagecoach have announced timetable changes for buses in Lancaster and Morecambe during lockdown.

In Lancaster and Morecambe, the timetable includes a 1/1A bus every 20 minutes on the majority of the route, and one bus an hour will run as service 1 via Sandylands and two buses as 1A via Oxcliffe Road. In the evenings service 1A will run every half an hour.

Services 4, 7, 10, and 11 will run hourly, as does the 40/41 – and the route sees the majority of buses going through the University campus.

There will be no journeys on service 6, but service 6A will continue to run every half an hour between Morecambe and Lancaster, 100/2X, will run half hourly throughout with some journey times changing slightly, and in the evenings the route will run every hour.

The 755 which is mainly used by tourists between Morecambe and the Lakes will not run on any day during the lockdown period.

Rob Jones, managing director of Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire, said: “The government’s Covid-19 guidelines are an ever-changing picture, and we will continue to change and adapt our routes to follow them. We are maintaining links for key workers and those that have to travel.

“Obviously the situation is not ideal, but safety is our number one concern. We ask that passengers only travel when necessary, and keep up to date with any changes via www.stagecoachbus.com”

Current lockdown advice is that members of the public should stay at home wherever possible and avoid unnecessary journeys - this includes public transport.

In observing the guidance, Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire are reducing some services but maintaining links for those that have to travel with early and late buses still running.

The changes will happen from Monday January 25. In most cases services that usually run half-hourly will reduce to hourly, more frequent services will become half-hourly and buses that run hourly or less will remain unchanged.

These changes will affect Mondays to Saturdays, and there are no changes to services on a Sunday.
