Morecambe man's dart-a-thon aims to support Andy's Man Club

Calam Green is raising money for Andy’s Man Club, and you can join him on Saturday at Heysham Cricket Club for the final part of his endeavour to raise not just money, but awareness for an essential charity.

A dart-a-thon is a charity fundraising event where participants play darts continuously for an extended period, often 12 to 48 hours, or aim for a high target score

The aim of the dart-a-thon is to score 104,716 points - 10 is to mark 10 years of the charity being setup back in 2016 and 4,716 is to mark 10 years since the first meting on the 4th of July 2016.

Calam is breaking the challenge down into smaller targets over the week: Monday: 4,716, Tuesday: 10,000, Wednesday: 10,000, Thursday: 10,000, Friday: 10,000, and Saturday: 60,000.

He is doing the weekly targets at home on his own board and the 60,000 on Saturday April 18 at Heysham Cricket Club.

“It would mean a lot if people were to come down and support me,” he said.

“It will be finishing on April 18 as it is a very personal day to me and will be good to distract myself on what is normally a tough day mentally for me, as it marks eight years since my Grandad passed away.

“People who know me know how much he meant to me so it’s my way of honouring him and remembering the man he was.

“I’ve chosen Andy's Man Club as its a charity that means a lot to me personally as it is a safe space for me to be able to go and get the support I need from fellow men who are in the same situation as myself.

“Without Andy’s Man Club, I would not be anywhere close to how I am mentally now and I am truly grateful for everything that the charity has done for me and al the other men who are brave enough to attend. Lastly #ItsOkaytoTalk”

Andy's Man Club meet at more than 350 venues nationwide every Monday (exc Bank Holidays) at 7pm, including a local venue at The Wright & Lord Stand, Mazuma Stadium (Morecambe FC) and it open to all men aged 18+.
