Chris Stubbs, general manager at Greaves Park in Lancaster, has been crowned a Greene King General Manager of the Year, recognising his outstanding contribution to the pub, team and customers.
Chris was one of just nine pub leaders from across the country to receive the accolade at Greene King’s annual Managed Pub Conference, held in Manchester earlier this month.
During more than 17 years with Greene King, Chris has built a strong track record of developing and supporting his teams, helping several colleagues progress into management and leadership roles.
His impact has also extended into the local community, with his teams raising thousands of pounds for charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Brian House and the Poppy Appeal.
The annual awards celebrate general managers who have excelled across all areas of running a successful pub, from delivering strong commercial performance and operational excellence to bringing teams together, creating memorable experiences for customers and ensuring pubs remain welcoming hubs at the heart of communities.
Winners were judged on how they perform across all areas of the role, alongside their leadership, team engagement and the respect they have earned from colleagues and peers, before the final nine were selected by Greene King’s brand operations directors.
Chris said: “I’m proud to receive this award after more than 17 years with Greene King. For me, great pubs start with great people, and seeing colleagues grow in confidence and progress into leadership roles has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
“I’m also proud of the difference our teams have made in their communities, raising thousands of pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support, Brian House, and the Poppy Appeal.
“Now, I’m looking forward to continuing to build on the fantastic progress we’ve made at Greaves Park and seeing what we can achieve together.”
Mark McFadyen, brand operations director for Chef and Brewer at Greene King, said: “Chris’s career at Greene King has been defined by his commitment to developing people and building brilliant teams.
“Over more than 17 years with the business, he has helped numerous colleagues progress into leadership roles, while creating memorable experiences for guests and making a real difference in the local community.
“He is already bringing that same passion and experience to Greaves Park, driving improvements in food and service and strengthening the pub’s relationship with the community.
“This award is fantastic recognition of the lasting impact Chris has made on his teams, guests and the wider business.”
The General Manager of the Year awards form part of Greene King’s annual Managed Pub Conference and recognise outstanding leaders from across its managed pub estate.
