MP David Morris will host a Parliamentary debate on a possible transport tunnel under Morecambe Bay.

A traffic tunnel under the bay could run alongside a proposed National Grid tunnel transporting electricity from Heysham to Moorside in Cumbria.

The tunnel could link vital services and industry quicker to the M6 via the M6 link road currently being constructed.

The debate will be at 11am on Wednesday and will be answered by a Minister from the Department of Transport.

Mr Morris said: “Infrastructure in my constituency is key to economic expansion. The M6 Link is now well on the way to being built, so it is time to look for future projects to further improve connectivity in the area.

“The tunnel would also serve as a better link for patients and staff in our hospitals in Lancaster and Barrow.”
