Parents are campaigning to save their children’s nursery after being told it will close this summer.

Staff and parents were told at a meeting last Thursday that Westbourne House Day Nursery will close on August 30.

Owners CfBT Education Trust said the business had become “increasingly challenging to manage in the current commercial climate”.

Parents are now hoping to find people willing to take on the nursery.

Parent Mark Sarjent said: “The nursery is in profit, and this has come as a shock.”

And Joe Lowe, whose two-year-old son goes to the nursery, said: “It’s a fantastic place and people are devastated.

“We are now urgently looking for financial help to try to keep it open.”
