TWO men were airlifted to hospital with serious injuries this morning following a head-on collision between two HGVs.
Paramedics and police were called to the scene on the A65 just south of Settle at 11.50am.
The drivers, aged 52 and 45, both suffered serious injuries.
One was taken to the Preston Royal Infirmary, while the other was airlifted to the Leeds General Infirmary.
The impact of the collision caused one of the HGVs to shed a load of gas cylinders, but police said there had been no risk of an explosion.
The road has been closed in both directions to allow accident investigation work to take place.
It is expected to re-open at around 7pm.
