Paedophile jailed for raping and assaulting young girl in Morecambe

A man who raped and assaulted a schoolgirl over a four year period has been caged for 14 years.

Judge Robert Altham told Paul Heath, of Buckingham Road, Morecambe, he would be subject to an extended eight year licence period on his release from prison.

Heath, 33, was charged following an investigation by Lancashire police.

The alleged victim, who was as young as eight at the time of some of his vile crimes, cannot be identified for legal reasons.

Prosecuting, Susan Carter said the allegations, which relate to a range of sexual attacks, related to a period between August 2011 to as recently as August 2015.

He pleaded guilty to six counts of the rape of the young girl, and another of attempting to rape her.

Heath also admitted a charge of causing or inciting the young Lancashire girl to engage in a sexual act .

In addition he pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs of children between 2011 and 2012.

The offences took place in Morecambe, Preston Crown Court was told.
