This week I want to talk about you and your team.

A combined, joint ventured success is much better than individual success, in my opinion.

Plus, more to the point, no individual success is achieved without a team in the background.

If you want success, which I am sure you do, you need a strong team. In keeping with this column and what we are trying to get across, let us take weight loss as an example.

It is really simple to do.

However, simple does not mean for one second that it is easy to succeed.

You simply (in most cases) move more, eat less and do so consistently.

There you go, your weight loss success in one sentence. If only it were that easy, the fitness industry would not survive.

In order to truly succeed, like we said, you need a team. My one single point for this week, is this.

Go seek professional guidance. Think about this for one second. You need your car fixed, you go to your mechanic. If you are in need of medical help, you go to hospital and your doctors. We all know this.

It is the exact same for your health and fitness goals. Please do not at this alone. You should go hire a qualified personal trainer or go join a gym. The most important rule you should stick to (at least in the beginning), is to make sure you enjoy your experience and train with someone who doesn’t make you want to stick needles in your eyes.

If you have fun, are safe and you are consistent, then slow, steady and achievable progress will inevitably happen. Then you can pick it up later on. Your team should consist of a qualified fitness professional, friends and family who support you, a group of fellow fitness enthusiasts, your spouse, kids, online forums, so on and so forth.

What I am trying to say, is do everything you can to surround yourself with those on the same journey as yourself and you will not go too far wrong. One of my favourite quotes is an old African proverb and it states “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”.
