This week has been a week of celebration, as Giggles Play and Adventure, here at Lancaster Leisure Park marks its anniversary.
The family run business opened it’s doors on the March 25, 2013, so it’s their two year anniversary this week.
Since opening they’ve extended their indoor soft play facilities to include a new helter skelter, a new party room, extra space in the toddlers play area and in June a baby area will be open for the first time.
Within seven months of opening they had beat off strong competition from 45 other North West businesses to be crowned North West Best Growth Potential Start Up Business at the Ready for Business Awards.
The family team made up of Kathleen Simpson and her husband and Mum and Dad, went through to the National Finals in London and were only two points away from taking home the national trophy.
I felt so proud of them.
In the beginning Kathleen came to talk to me about her new venture.
She had an ambition to open a clean and safe indoor play area after taking her son (who was three at the time) to other venues that she felt really didn’t measure up.
Kathleen had high standards and a wish list.
She wanted to provide good food, hygienic and spacious baby and toddler toilet areas, an identical play space for toddlers and older children as well as providing a room for private parties after school.
However, and most importantly, she wanted somewhere parents could truly relax knowing their children were safe, and so Giggles was born.
We built a purpose built space around the back of the antiques centre, next to the dance studio.
When they first opened they had just 18 private party bookings but now they are proud to be hosting an average of 11 every single week.
They started with a staff of six but now have an established team of 17 people working for them.
Quite some going in only two years.
It’s been great to see them go from strength to strength.
They are a lovely family and truly deserve their success.
