Last week I met with the National Grid to discuss proposals for new power lines that will connect the new nuclear plant at Sellafield to Heysham where the power will enter the national grid.
Currently National Grid are consulting on these proposals and if you would like to see it in detail and add your views you can do so by visiting www.northwestconnections.com.
I do think this is an improvement on an original scheme, which would have seen new power lines going from Heysham across to Quernmore then running on through the Trough.
The consultation will run until November and following the proposals being finalised a planning application will be submitted in 2017 and work will commence in 2019.
I also met with local education company Ascentis to have a look around their offices on Caton Road and look at their plans for a national conference in December with FE colleges.
Ascentis is actually a National and International awarding body providing qualifications for Further Education Colleges, Training Providers, Schools and Employers and in particular offer Access to Higher Education qualifications which are enabling thousands of adult learners, without formal qualifications from their school days, to start University.

On the subject of education can I take this opportunity to send my very best to all our schools, their staff and students at the start of another new school year.
We really do have some great schools in Lancaster and I do realise how much hard work has gone into ensuring a really good start, especially for all those beginning school for the first time or moving to a new school.
As always, please contact me if I can be of any help. I represent everyone that lives in Lancaster regardless of how or whether you vote. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, telephone 0207 219 7096 or 01995 672975
