On Friday I was pleased to welcome my friend Lembit Opik to Lancaster Honda at White Lund.
Lembit is now the communications director for MAG (Motorcycle Action Group) and campaigns for the rights of motorcyclists.
While Lembit was in the constituency, we were able to discuss a whole range of topics from the safety of motorcyclists to the European Union imposing red tape on motorcyclists’ braking systems.
It was a pleasure to be able to meet some representatives of MAG and talk to them about motorcycling in general.
Last week in the House of Commons, the Minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General, Rt Hon Francis Maude MP, confirmed to me that the Government has now put arrangements in place to monitor what facilities are being made available to trade union officials at taxpayers’ expense.
I am shocked that no systems were in place previously to ensure that taxpayers’ money is not being wasted by trade union officials. This is an issue that is really important to me.
The Minister confirmed that the data is not yet complete but when it is rest assured that I will scrutinise it.
Please look out for my survey which I have been distributing all over the constituency.
If you haven’t received your copy yet, please call James on 01524 411059 and he will send you one.
The survey is also available online – take a look atwww.letdavidknow.co.uk<http://atwww.letdavidknow.co.uk><http://www.letdavidknow.co.uk> and rest assured I read every single response. Please also include your contact details so I can give you a call to discuss issues raised.
