It is now time to dispose of your Christmas trees, what better way to do it than with St John’s Hospice.
The hospice are running tree collections on January 9-11, for a suggested minimum donation of £5 per tree.
It is a great way to support the hospice and it saves you a messy journey to the tip.
For more information and to book a collection please call 01524 382538 or online www.sjhospice.org.uk/recycletrees.
Morecambe Bay movie makers are documenting the build of the M6 Link road by a series of monthly videos available on their website.
I introduced the latest video about the progress made in December.
These videos are extremely interesting as they go behind the scenes of the road build as each bridge and each piece of tarmac is put down.
The videos can be accessed online at www.morecambebaymoviemakers.org.uk
I have also had a meeting with the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership regarding my idea for a tunnel under the Bay.
The first step is to conduct a feasibility study and the LEP will be writing to the Cabinet Office to apply to a fund which is set aside for projects such as this.
I will be following this application up with meetings with the Cabinet Office to ensure that the feasibility study is secured.
I believe that the tunnel under Morecambe Bay is the natural phase two for the M6 Link project and would open the whole area up to more jobs and investment.
This week I also received a reply from the Secretary of State for DEFRA regarding the National Park Extension of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Lake District National Park around the Cowan Bridge area.
I have been assured that the consultation is being assessed and the Secretary of State will be making her decision shortly, I will be meeting with the Secretary of State to press for a decision.
