When the April 2014 unemployment figures were released I was absolutely delighted because unemployment had significantly reduced in Morecambe and Lunesdale.

Today the latest figures were released and unemployment has again fallen which is amazing news.

This means that more hardworking people in Morecambe and Lunesdale are in work which is very good news.

Last week I visited Easyrecruit in Morecambe, Lee and the team are putting a large number of hardworking people from Morecambe and Lunesdale into work. Actually, while I was in the office, a call came through from one of Easyrecruit’s clients offering a large number of people work.

I enjoy visiting local companies so do contact me if you’d like me to visit.

Thank you to everyone who came to Happy Mount Park last week to help with the tidy up. You may recall that a local man called Steve Trainor masterminded an idea called the poppy scatter, the idea was for local people to scatter poppy seeds all over the constituency so that when we remember those who did not return home from the First World War the poppies will be in full bloom.

Sadly, someone vandalised the poppy beds and it was heartening to see on Friday that so many local people helped to repair the damage including a lot of school children.

It was poignant that Friday was D-Day and everyone paused to remember those who have fallen in war.

Saturday saw the annual Barefest, despite the weather it was a fantastic day and I was able to parade with my friend and Lord Mayor of Bare Susan Bray.

I was also able to visit the Bolton-le-Sands gala, which was a fantastic event. It was an honour for me to talk to the Bay Search and Rescue representatives and those campaigning for a new church roof.

Thank you to everyone who organised and attended both events, the community spirit was evident despite the rain.

I have been distributing my constituency wide survey, if you haven’t yet received one you call call James on 01524 411059 and he will send you one. It is also available at www.letdavidknow.co.uk.
