I welcome news that the Government has placed three wards in Morecambe and Lunesdale on the assisted status map.

This means that local businesses are eligible to bid for additional funding and tax breaks to create jobs, invest in new premises or machinery and grow.

Programmes in England that offer regional aid include the Regional Growth Fund and the Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain initiative.

The three wards are Overton, Poulton and Westgate.

The Government has confirmed it has funded the building of 228 affordable homes in the district, of the 228, 27 of them are in rural areas.

The Government has given me assurances that it will continue to fund affordable homes in rural areas.

We’re just a few days away from the Morecambe Carnival which makes a welcome return on Sunday, May 4.

There’ll be entertainment from 12 noon and the carnival parade starts at 2pm with live music until 9pm.

The carnival promises to be a truly fantastic day, I’m looking forward to attending and I hope you will too.

It’s also vitally important that people from outside the district know about the carnival so please do talk about it on your social media.

The organisers are using the #MC14 hash tag.

I am in the process of putting together this year’s summer tour, if you’d like me to come to your community event, hold a street surgery on your street or hold a surgery in your local pub/community centre please do get in touch.

My summer tour is an opportunity to travel all across the constituency and meet as many people as possible.

A reminder that I want to know what you think, you can let me know your thoughts about Morecambe and Lunesdale by completing my constituency wide questionnaire. You can find it by looking at www.letdavidknow.co.uk

There is a total of £64 Million available in coastal communities funding, I would like as much of it as possible to come to Morecambe and Lunesdale so please do put in a bid for some funding the closing date is April 30.
