Thank you to those who have already signed my buses petition which calls for Lancashire County Council not to withdraw funding for vital bus services.

Already we have had some success in persuading Lancashire County Council not to withdraw funding.

Earlier this week the County Council said that it will not withdraw bus services but will look at individual routes when their contracts are up for renewal.

I would now like Lancashire County Council to publish a list of contractual renewal dates.

In the meantime, I think it is imperative that you write to your local County Councillor explaining the importance of your local bus service.

The petition is still available on my website www.davidmorrismp.co.uk if you would like to sign it.

On Friday I will be attending the first poppy scatter at Happy Mount Park in Morecambe, the whole community is invited to attend.

The idea is that poppy seeds will be sown across the constituency so that when the 100th anniversary of the First World War is commemorated during the summer there will be poppies in bloom all over Morecambe and Lunesdale.

The first poppy scatter will start at 12 noon on Friday.

I was delighted to help present two cheques recently, a group of young people and staff from Bay View Childcare cycled from Whitehaven to Sunderland a total of 137 miles.

In total the cycle ride raised £1000 the proceeds has been split, £500 for the Children’s ward at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and £500 for an orphanage in Kenya.

The Prime Minister has changed the floodline number to make it cheaper to call, I have tabled the following Parliamentary motion: “That this House notes that the Prime Minister has forced the Environment Agency to launch an 0345 floodline number; further notes that this was in response to complaints that the old 0845 number cost up to 41 pence a minute to call; believes that this service should be as affordable as possible to users; and therefore welcomes the changes made.”
