A magical moment for me this Christmas

Admittedly, I had bought it for the boys as a motivating craft activity but as neither of them wanted to make it, I decided to make it myself.

So Christmas week has finally arrived. Both boys are now off school for two weeks and the fun can begin. We finally put our tree up on Sunday and the house is now feeling very Christmassy indeed.

I know it’s only a few days into the holiday, but so far so good.

Tom is coping really well, even though Stephen went to stay with grandparents for a few days.

What it has allowed us to do though is to ease ourselves into Christmas heralded by the decorating of the tree. Or should I say, Tom rummaging around in the decorations box while passing us the odd bauble.

We had a lovely experience over this past weekend. As usual we went to see the Naughty Man at the City Museum. Both of the boys particularly like the model train set at the moment that is housed in a Winter Wonderland scene. Anyway, on our arrival there we found Santa was visiting and the large room downstairs had been transformed into a magical grotto.

Tom walked right in and found Santa sat on his chair. He promptly went and sat in the chair next to him, said “Hello Santa”, and then asked to shake his hand, which Santa did.

All of the grotto staff were fantastic with him. We took a couple of photos, he sat in the sleigh and he threw snowballs at the snowman.

The real magical moment though was when he stood to say goodbye to Santa. In a very quiet voice, so I am not sure if Santa heard him, he said, “I love you Santa.”

It was such a magical moment. I have to admit I felt a little misty eyed.

Anyway, I am off to finish my Father Christmas collage and pop a few more decorations up. Tom is not impressed with it so far.
