Discovering how TMJ message can help

It is always interesting and exciting for me to find out about new natural therapies, so when one of my clients mentioned she was seeing a lady called Silvia Perruzza for something called TMJ massage I wanted more details.

When my client had first been to see Silvia she was suffering with headaches, dizziness, neck pain and crackling noises in her ears. She started TMJ massage and trigger point therapy and the difference she reported was amazing – her ears felt less blocked, she was no longer suffering headaches and dizziness and the noise in her ears was also better.

So, just what exactly is TMJ? I went to see Silvia myself to ask her:

“TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint. The most important feature of TMJ dysfunction (TMD) is pain followed by restricted jaw movement and noises from the temporomandibular joints during jaw movement.

“Although TMD is not life threatening it can be detrimental to quality of life because the symptoms can become chronic and difficult to manage.

“Symptoms include headaches, teeth grinding, worn teeth, tinnitus, earache, dizziness, difficulty swallowing/speaking, trismus (difficulty opening mouth normally), difficulty sleeping, twitching eye and facial muscles and chronic pain or tenderness around ear, neck, face, upper back and shoulders.”

What may be of interest further here though is the fact that TMJ massage can also apparently relieve snoring. One of her clients claimed it saved his marriage because it all but stopped his snoring – as well as easing the symptoms that had been bothering him so much.

He told me: “After fortunately glancing at the Facebook article from Sylvia Perruzza listing the conditions of TMJ, I made the contact and arranged a treatment.

“As a lifelong serial teeth grinder, tinnitus and constant pain sufferer, noticeably in the back of my neck on the right hand side of my head, I had nothing to lose and was beginning to submit to living with it all and learning to cope.

“The professionalism, knowledge and technique of this highly skilled therapist far surpassed any of my expectations. All of my symptoms where linked heavily to the severe tightness in my jaw and the sense of relief during the progressive treatments was nothing short of incredible. I cannot recommend Sylvia Perruzza highly enough.”
