Any comments about the tap water situation?

The other weekend I enjoyed the Galgate Gas Light Show. A fantastic selection of produce had been entered and I was heartened to get advice from one winner that their secret to success was “neglect”, which gives us all hope if we are attempting to grow our own fruit and veg!

It was a joy to see so many members of the community coming together for this annual event and I’d like to thank the organisers for putting together a wonderful afternoon.

One of the biggest issues affecting households to the south of the district has been the contamination of the water supply by cryptosporidium. Households in Forton and Scorton, and to the south, have been effected. United Utilities continue to update householders who they hold emails for regularly and there have been advice cards pushed through doors of effected houses.

Congratulations to all students who received A-level and GCSE results. If you got the grades you wanted, or if you’re a little disappointed, there are plenty of options out there and life does offer second chances when it comes to exams. Best wishes for whatever comes next for you.

Coming up, I’m continuing my “Chats with Cat”, which are an opportunity for residents to meet me informally over tea and biscuits.

You don’t need to have an issue you want to bring up, but if you do then it’s also a good place to let me know what’s happening where you live. If you’d like to get in touch, send an email to [email protected] or call 01524 566 551 to make appointments for advice surgeries.
