Column: record turn out for campus project

We welcomed an amazing 581 visitors at our launch event on Saturday which made it the busiest day in the history of the project. And the pace hasn’t let up during the first week either.

Visitors learned about how we can make Lancaster a happier place with our student team and local mental health charities.

They heard more about the children at the centre of witch hunts which took place in the 1600s (and are still taking place now) and discovered we’ll never forget to put our bins out again, thanks to the iLancaster app!

A quiz about the human body with anatomists Dr Adam Taylor and Dr Quentin Wessels, from the Lancaster Medical School, produced some very surprising results.

Week two of Campus in the City looks set to be just as action-packed, with subjects ranging from economics to St Nics and from magic dragons to the mysteries of Hogwarts.

Magic dragons are an optical illusion that we will be looking at in more detail with our psychologists on Tuesday and Wednesday, before PotterSoc, the Harry Potter Society, join us on Thursday.

On Friday, we’ll be finding out more about the economy and our money and then looking back at the development of our project partners St Nicholas Arcades on Easter Saturday – come along and see if you can see yourself in our photo gallery.
