Hello again and happy summer holidays.

This week I am being a tad reflective looking back at an amazing party we held on this date four years ago.

All of July was spent planning and putting the finishing touches to what proved to be the party of the year.

July 31, 2010 saw staff, family, friends, and our media contacts all celebrating our 20th Anniversary with us.

I wanted to do something to commemorate such a momentous anniversary and it was exactly 20 years to the day, since we opened the centre.

Over the last two decades GB Antiques has gone from strength to strength and we can now claim to be one of the biggest antiques centres in the country, definitely a cause for a big celebration.

We opened the door to the centre free of charge to visitors over the weekend and we erected a gazebo outside, where we invited people to come along and have their treasures valued.

We asked for donations for this which we donated to The Ribblebank Centre in Preston, a charity very close to my heart.

There were also competitions, prizes, free gifts, cake and balloons for the children.

In the evening partying started in a marquee with drinks supplied by Lancaster Brewery who were soon to open their new brewery on the site.

There were speeches and presentations and amongst all the fun, the evening presented the opportunity for me to thank various members of my team for their hard work and support over the years.

The centre holds an eclectic mix of antiques and beautiful furniture and we are lucky to boast that there is barely a field of the last two hundred years which is not represented somewhere here, but it’s not just that that has made the centre into the success it is.

We are all passionate about antiques and it’s the dedication, expertise and loyalty of my staff, dealers and friends of the centre that have made the success possible, so the party was really a thank you to them for all their hard work over the years.
