In driving rain, police are continuing a murder investigation at a Heysham caravan park.

At the Stud Farm Holiday Park off Oxcliffe Road all looks normal apart from the police tape surrounding one static caravan.

Officers are still searching for a knife used in the attack.

The only other activity is the occasional twitching of net curtains as police vehicles come and go from the site.

The owners of the caravan park are currently unavailable for comment and officers on the scene are keeping their counsel.

A man has died and his partner is seriously injured after the attack.

When police arrived at the site a 26-year-old woman was found with serious stab wounds to the neck, abdomen and back. Her 28-year-old partner was found nearby also suffering from similar, significant stab wounds.

Both were taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where the man died of his injuries. The woman has since been transferred to Royal Blackburn Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Following extensive enquires a 26-year-old man was arrested by officers in Stoke on Trent and will now be questioned by Lancashire detectives on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. It is believed the man arrested is known to both victims.
