Library film club screening

A showing of Walt Disney film, Frozen, will see the launch of a new monthly film club at Morecambe Library. Frozen will be shown at 1.30pm on Saturday July 12 and for 50p, children will get admission to the film along with popcorn and juice.

Open Gardens event

More than 20 gardens and allotments will be on show in this first Open Gardens Weekend in Kirkby Lonsdale and Low Biggins. Programmes, £5 to admit one adult, are on sale at ‘Love the Lune’, Main Street, Kirkby Lonsdale(015242 71437), and during the weekend of July 12 and 13 will also be available at many of the gardens. There is no charge for accompanied children. All profits will go to charity ‘Freedom from Torture’.

New RLI posts

New posts have been created at local hospitals’ Accident and Emergency (A and E)departments in a pioneering move to help speed up the assessment and treatment of patients.University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT) have become the first Trust in the North West of England to appoint two new Physician associates – an innovative new health professional, who works with the clinical team to provide quality healthcare.Roz Clegg has already joined the team in the emergency department at Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and she will be joined in August by Harjer Khadim.

Physician Associates obtain medical histories, conduct comprehensive physical exams, request and interpret tests, diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries, and counsel on preventive health care. They provide a bridge between nurses and doctors.
