New officers sign up to the police force

Lancashire Constabulary’s newest recruits have officially become part of the force after taking part in the first attestation ceremonies of the year.

Warrant cards were handed out to 59 new officers at the ceremonies, which came after Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw and Chief Constable Steve Finnigan opened up external recruitment for brand new PCs last year.

The new officers are now two weeks into their initial training, which will see them shadowing police on the streets of Lancashire, being trained in investigative interview techniques and undertaking Crime Scene Investigation training.

The Commissioner said: ““All of our new officers have done exceptionally well to make it through the recruitment process, and I now wish them the best of luck as they embark on their initial training.”

Before they are officially confirmed in post, all new officers are required to complete a two-year probationary period which includes additional courses at the Constabulary’s Hutton HQ.
