After ten very successful years, Alison Charlesworth has retired from Storth CE Primary School near Milnthorpe.

Simon Brabant has taken over the reins and is looking forward to some very exciting times at the successful and fun filled school.

He is determined to keep the school moving forward and building upon the great work put in place by the staff and the previous head.

“We pride ourselves on our excellent relationships with the children and parents at the school, which were deemed as excellent at our last Ofsted,” Mr Brabant said.

“Our small and caring school ensures we as a staff know every child and can tailor our teaching to match their individual needs.

“We are very much a part of the community, offering a breakfast club and after school club to help our busy working parents, as well as a broad spectrum of after school clubs run by the staff and volunteers from the village.

“Our curriculum is all encompassing – from our Forest School enrichment activities to working very closely with Dallam in providing excellent and all inclusive PE.

“We have started a toddler group on the first Wednesday of every month (all our welcome!) as well as regular PTA activities and participation in all the village events.

“At the moment the children are busy planning a home for the newest arrivals at the school – chickens!

“They are designing a coop; planning where to put them on the school grounds and planning a feeding and caring rota.

“Our enterprise committee are also investigating the possibility of raising money to pay for the feed and bedding!

“We are very proud of our children and our school, and although we are small, we have some very big plans for our future.”
