As your comments show, there have been many much-loved pubs which have sadly been forced to shut down over the years.
Here are just some of the old boozers that our readers wish were still in business.

17. The Ranch House, Marine Road West, Morecambe
Formerly known as The Casino, this promenade pub was a popular haunt for years and will hold fond memories for many. Our picture shows a packed Ranch House bar during a Liverpool v Manchester United match - one of the last big televised matches at the pub before it closed on January 31 2016. Just five months later, on July 1, the premises was gutted by fire. Photo: Debbie Jenkins

18. Lanky's, Penny Street, Lancaster
The 1960s building housed the old Lanky's pub and later The Lounge with upstairs dancing/function room. It reopened as cocktail bar, Apothecary, but eventually closed as a pub. Restaurant Perilicious now occupies the premises. Photo: Jason Bellinger

19. Ma Murphy's, Lines Street, Morecambe
Ma Murphy's Irish bar used to be a popular destination for pubgoers in Morecambe. Our picture shows boxers Billy Nelson (left) and Brian London (right) meeting up again at Ma Murphy's Irish pub in Morecambe during the noughties. Between them is then landlord Colin Smith. The pub was first known as The Bull and now goes under its original name once again. Photo: Submit

20. Whistling Oyster, Marine Road Central, Morecambe
The Whistling Oyster was a popular nightspot in the 1980s and 1990s. After the pub's closure, it became The Office pole dancing establishment which lasted until 2007 when it shut 'due to a lack of business'. Today the premises is home to The Temperance Club Barber Shop. Photo: The Temperance Club
