The outdoor Spooktacular Trail included a haunted house, dragon’s lair, Jack O'Lanterns patch, the witches coven, a ghostly graveyard and much more and was to have been held at Overton Memorial Hall on October 28.

Team Reece said on their Facebook page: “Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control we have made the decision to cancel the Halloween event this year.

"This event costs a considerable amount of money and time to put on and with a huge downturn in advanced ticket bookings this year, we as a charity cannot justify running the event at a loss when the money and time could be spent supporting children with cancer and their families.

"We know this will be disappointing for those who have booked, you will receive a full refund and there are some fantastic Halloween events in the local area that are also supporting fantastic charities.

"Chris Dickson has an amazing display on South Road, Morecambe, supporting CancerCare.

"Natasha Valentine also has an amazing display on Morecambe Road, Morecambe, supporting MIND.

"We will instead be using the props we already have to set up displays in the local children’s wards to bring smiles to those children who will be in hospital over the Halloween period.

"We will also be spending the money the event would have cost to put on, on purchasing Halloween treats for children in the local children’s wards and on Christmas gifts for Alder Hey’s children’s and Manchester children’s hospital oncology wards and our local children's wards to bring smiles to children fighting cancer in hospital at Christmas.

"We hope you can understand this decision to better use funds to support children fighting cancer and we thank you for your continued support of Team Reece and helping us to continue Reece’s wish of bringing smiles to these children.”

Reece Holt from Overton set up charity Team Reece to help other children and families affected by childhood cancer.

They hold events throughout the year to raise money for children and families affected by childhood cancer.
