Morecambe singer celebrates Sir Elton John's seal of approval
Morecambe musician Lois is celebrating a major career milestone after her latest single Small Town Party Girl was played on Sir Elton John’s Rocket Hour show on Apple Music on Saturday, May 23.
The track, released on Friday May 22, was featured on Sir Elton John’s Rocket Hour, a weekly programme on Apple Music curated by Elton himself that showcases breakthrough new talent alongside established international artists, reaching a global audience.
For independent artist Lois, who grew up in Morecambe and has spent over a decade pursuing music while balancing work in a café to fund her career, the moment marked a surreal and deeply emotional achievement.
Small Town Party Girl is a deeply personal track inspired by her upbringing on the Lancashire coast.

Since its release, it has resonated with listeners for its honest portrayal of growing up in a seaside town and striving to build a creative life beyond it.
An elated Lois said: “I can’t quite put into words just how incomprehensible it is that THE Elton John just played Small Town Party Girl. Someone I’ve grown up in awe of my whole life. It’s me! Lois from Morecambe! How is this even real?"
Lois has steadily built a reputation as one of the North West’s most promising emerging artists, supported by BBC Introducing, festival appearances, and a growing catalogue of emotionally charged alt-pop releases.
She added: “I’ve been making music for over ten years, I’m an independent artist and work in a café to allow me to make music and to have this kind of recognition from someone like Elton really is unbelievable.
“I’m so happy! I keep putting my head in my hands, I’m not sure what else to do but laugh in disbelief. I’m really proud of this song and I’m just so glad that it’s this one that has reached him.”
